Car stereo has now become an integral part of the decor of the car. Car manufacturers today have recognized the fact that in-car entertainment constitutes an important aspect of a modern car. So from the time a simple radio was fitted into the car technology has been introducing innovations in the advancement of the car audio system. Many brands started manufacturing various components of the car stereo system soon.
The major and most widely used components of a car stereo are the amplifiers, speakers, woofers, subwoofers, CD player and now DVD players. Early on it was only a simple radio that served the purpose of car audio system. Then the compact cassette came, which was introduced in the market for the first time by Philips. Blaupunkt is one of the oldest names in car stereo system. Another big name of that era was Motorola which first introduced car radio.
As technology advanced radio was quietly replaced by compact cassette player or as we call it, a tape player. replacing my pioneer stereo with another pioneer?
I have a in-dash pioneer DEH-1900MP. I was wondering if i wanted to replace my in dash pioneer for another pioneer would i have to rewire everything? I have no clue in how to installing car stereos. I wanted to get the pioneer mosfet with the ipod ready at bestbuy. I know they can install it for me, but i would like to know how to do it also.
Some pioneer may actually have the same wire harness plug to just swap them out, maybe not. Swapping out a stereo is not hard and I have installed many head-units on many cars just as a hobby and fan of car audio. Installdr.com has many cars with instructions to install head units. Basically to install you need to convert the stock dashboard with plastic parts to fit an aftermarket cd player of a typical size, which can be very simple or very complicated (such as my ol’ tape player toting buick). Considering you already have an aftermarket unit and just want to upgrade, it should be there for you and just needs the wire harness checked. If the harness is not a fit, then splice into (12v power, ground, and speaker wires etc..) Its impossible to mess up if you look at the colors and just connect as directed. These color codes are also easily found online and just takes some crimp-ends or even electrical tape. Plug the harness in the back, slide it into the dash, and its good to go! It may take you 30 minutes.
